England players get legendary status on Wembley Way
Wembley has chosen to pay tribute to the seven members of the current England squad who have passed their 50th England cap, by honouring them with a personalised stone at the stadium.
Frank Lampard, John Terry, Steven Gerrard, Wayne Rooney, Ashley Cole, Rio Ferdinand and Gareth Barry have all had stones installed in the ground on Wembley Way in celebration of this very significant milestone in their England careers.
Frank Lampard said: “Wembley is a special place and it makes me very proud to know that I will have my own stone there forever, alongside so many footballing greats.”
Wembley Stadium’s Managing Director Roger Maslin said: ”We are transforming the concourse that surrounds Wembley Stadium into Wembley Way, a major new landmark where fans from all over the world will be able to share in the messages and memories of fellow fans. We are creating something really special here at Wembley and wanted to be able to celebrate the achievements of some of the current England squad’s most successful players.”
Fans are now able to take their place alongside their heroes by laying their very own personalised stone on Wembley Way. The stones are made of the finest grey granite and can be inscribed with personal messages, dedications or memories and make an ideal Christmas gift. They will be set in the ground on the stadium’s outside concourse along special panels celebrating some of the stadium’s most famous events.
The stones come in various sizes ranging from 200mm x 100mm for a single stone to 600mm x 200mm for a celebration stone. Larger stones can also feature the England Three Lions crest or Wembley Stadium logo. Prices range from £50 to £495. For further details visit www.wembleystadium.com.
