Wembley team donates food to Brent children
Wembley Stadium's event day team have volunteered to forego their matchday catering for the remainder of the year, to instead donate it to children in need of a meal in the venue's local borough of Brent.
The wider event day workforce of around 500 people made the collective decision after being inspired by England player Marcus Rashford's campaign for free school meals. As a result, 1,500 'snack packs' have been distributed to children in need this half-term via Brent Council.
Stadium Director Liam Boylan said: "There are times when I sit in awe of what our event delivery teams do for huge events at this stadium, especially during these challenging times where they have not only delivered events, but delivered them in a Covid secure operation. They then knocked me for six again when they made the collective decision to donate their event day meals to children in our local community.
"I am incredibly proud to be the Director of the most iconic stadium in the world, but not because of the bricks and mortar, but because of the amazing team that work here and their awareness and humanity to try and help those who really need our help right now."
