Players excited to reach historic FA Cup Final
Notts County and Chelsea players have expressed their excitement at reaching this season’s historic FA Women’s Cup Final.
For the first time in the competition’s history, the final will be played at Wembley Stadium connected by EE.
The teams booked their places in the showpiece match with Notts County overcoming Everton 3-0 at Goodison Park and Chelsea edging out Manchester City 1-0 at Wycombe Wanderers.
Chelsea captain Katie Chapman, who has won the Cup eight times with Millwall, Charlton, Fulham and Arsenal, says running out at Wembley for the first time will be a career highlight.
She said: “It’s unbelievable, it’s what you dream of. It’s going to be special walking out as captain at Wembley.
“As a player, I’ve been in many Cup finals but with it being at Wembley it’s really going to be a great occasion.”
England and Notts County defender Alex Greenwood, who faced her old side Everton in the Semi-Final, said: “We played really well in the second half and deserve to be going to Wembley.
“Coming back to a club I’d been at since I was six years old was tough mentally. I still have a lot of feelings for Everton but I’m a Notts County player now and I’m buzzing that we’re in The Final.
“The FA Cup is historic and for the fans it is so special. We did it as much for them as for us.”
