Spurs set up repeat of 2008 League Cup Final
Tottenham Hotspur survived a late scare at Bramall Lane to book a place in the League Cup final, where they will take on Chelsea.
Leading Sheffield United 1-0 from the semi-final first leg, courtesy of England winger Andros Townsend’s penalty, Spurs appeared to be easing into the Wembley showdown when Christian Eriksen doubled their aggregate lead with a sublime first-half free-kick.
The Blades rallied and 18-year-old substitute Che Adams scored twice inside three minutes to bring the tie back level with just over 10 minutes remaining, and extra-time loomed.
But in the dying embers Eriksen latched on to Harry Kane’s neat through ball and slipped a shot into the far corner to seal a repeat of the 2008 final, which Tottenham won under the guidance of former boss Juande Ramos.
Kane's fellow Three Lions internationals Eric Dier, Kyle Walker and Townsend also featured in the Sheffield snow.
This year’s final will take place on Sunday 1 March.
