BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show host Nick Grimshaw was joined by FA150 ambassador and pop superstar Olly Murs, as well as a host of famous faces from the worlds of music, television and sport, at Wembley today for the eagerly anticipated Radio One-derers v Team HotMurs rematch.

Following the one-sided first game between the two teams at St. George’s Park earlier in the year (29 July 2013), which ended 11-1 to the HotMurs, the rematch was moved to the home of English football, Wembley. Both sides signed a number of big names ahead of the match.

The Radio One-derers, now managed by Nick Grimshaw, were keen to avenge the defeat so signed up Mark Wright, Jordan and Harley from Rizzle Kicks, Wretch 32, James Arthur, Jamie Laing, Dan Flint, Dan Walker and ex England player Peter Reid. Olly was joined by Andy Brown, John Bishop, Freddie Flintoff and England legend Alan Shearer.

Played in front of more than 200 fans with live match commentary from Scott Mills and Michael Owen on the BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show, the game ended 3-3. Tottenham HotMurs raced into an early lead with goals from Eddie Bishop (brother of John Bishop) and team captain Olly Murs. The Radio One-derers then pulled it back and equalised in the dying seconds with a goal from Man of the Match, Mark Wright.

The game then moved into the dreaded penalty shootout, with either side in with the chance of winning. Alan Shearer calmly slotted in from 9 yards, but ultimately it was Jamie Laing (Made in Chelsea) who missed the crucial deciding penalty, resulting in a 5-3 penalty shootout victory for Tottenham HotMurs.

The match brought to an end a series of high profile games that have been played at Wembley during The FA’s 150th anniversary, including England matches against Brazil, Scotland and Germany as well as the FA Cup Final between Manchester City and Wigan Athletic.

FA150 ambassador, Olly Murs, said:

“I’ve been lucky enough to play concerts at Wembley but to actually play football on the hallowed turf was incredibly special. It’s been great working with The FA as an ambassador for its 150th anniversary and it’s been great fun challenging Nick to these two games.

"The game was a lot closer than the first leg, Grimmy obviously made some decent signings. But I had every confidence in my lads and they came up trumps. Penalty shoot-outs are never easy, but I trusted the boys to focus on the win, and that they did!”

BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show host, Nick Grimshaw, said:
“Unfortunately I picked up an injury in the last game, so I couldn’t play for the One-derers today, but it’s a massive honour just to be part of The FA’s closing ceremony during their 150th Anniversary.”

"I am desperately disappointed that we have suffered another defeat. We ran them so close and who knows what will happen in a penalty shootout. Mark Wright for the One-derers fully deserved the Man of the Match award, so at least we won something!"
