Wembley's Mapped Out for a Great Summer of Sport
Today, Google has launched indoor maps for Android mobile phones in the UK and we’re delighted to announce that Wembley Stadium is one of the first UK entertainment venues to have their indoor floor plans appear on Google Maps.
Other UK locations range from train stations to art galleries and department stores. In fact, any building owner can upload their maps for future inclusion in Google Maps.
Just open Google Maps on your Android mobile phone, Zoom in to Wembley Stadium and the indoor floor plan automatically appears. And for buildings where the information is available, you will be able to see where you are on the map with a familiar blue dot if you’ve enabled the My Location feature. So the next time you arrive for an epic Wembley football, sport or music event, you’ll be able to locate all the great services Wembley has to offer fans, including:
• 164 turnstiles
• 2618 toilets for your convenience
• 98 kitchens and 30 bars capable of pouring a cool 47,000 pints in one half time break
• 688 food and drink service points on the concourses
• And even where to locate some of Wembley’s historical treasures including the Olympic torch from the 1948 Olympic Games, the Bobby Moore Statue and the World Cup Plaque from the 1966 World Cup
If you’re headed to Wembley Stadium for one of the nine London 2012 Olympic Football matches taking place from the 29 July through to the 11 August, you’ll be able to plan your journey ahead, discover where you are going and navigate your way around the stadium from the palm of your hand.
