Record Day For Stadium Tour
Yesterday Wembley Stadium saw the busiest day of Stadium Tours ever in its history when 1,317 football fans took a tour of the national stadium.
The record came ahead of this weekend’s FA Cup Final between Everton and Chelsea.
Previously the record for public tours at the new stadium was 1,100 just after the FA Cup Semi Finals 2008.
The busiest day in the old stadium was 1,250 in August 1996, just after Euro ‘96.
Stadium Tours manager Charlie McCracken who has managed the tours at both the old and new Wembley Stadium for over 30 years said: “It was brilliant to see so many Everton and Chelsea fans taking a look behind the scenes at Wembley ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup Final. I’m really excited that we have broken the record for visitors on the tour and it was great to see so many people enjoying themselves at the stadium.”
