Roger Maslin Becomes Managing Director Of Wembley Stadium
Roger Maslin has today been named Managing Director of Wembley Stadium.
Maslin, 47, has been Acting MD since 1st August, 2008 in which time the stadium has hosted 33 major live events including England football internationals, The FA Cup Final, a whole host of rock and pop concerts - such as Oasis, Madonna and Take That - the Race of Champions and the NFL.
He has spent over a decade working at the stadium after being appointed as Wembley Finance Director in February 1999. Before this Maslin was Financial Controller and Director of major breweries including Courage, Guinness and whisky giants United Distillers.
Maslin said: “I’m passionate about Wembley and have spent the last 11 years turning the stadium dream into a reality. I’m absolutely delighted to be at the helm of such a committed, passionate and professional team.”
Wembley Stadium Chairman David Bernstein said: "Over the last year Roger has excelled in his role as Acting MD. I am delighted at this well deserved appointment which provides continuity and will be a key factor in the ongoing progress of our great stadium."
The news of Maslin’s appointment also coincides with The Football Association's office move to Wembley Stadium this weekend. The FA will be permanently based at the stadium from Monday, 3rd August. The FA Group’s new address is Wembley Stadium, Wembley, London HA9 0WS with effect from Monday, 3rd August, 2009.
The next major event at Wembley Stadium is The FA Community Shield sponsored by McDonald’s between Chelsea and Manchester United on Sunday, 9th August, kick-off at 3pm.
