England men’s under-21s will have a home double in October as they conclude their UEFA U21 EURO qualifying campaign.
The Young Lions are aiming to finish in top spot to secure qualification for next summer’s U21 EURO Finals in Slovakia.
They currently sit in second spot behind group leaders Ukraine, who they will host at AFC Bournemouth’s Vitality Stadium on Friday 11 October (7.45pm BST).
The Vitality Stadium has been a familiar venue for the MU21s in recent years, following a 4-1 win over Andorra in March 2022 in a EURO qualifier en-route to winning the Championship last summer thanks to goals from Folarin Balogun, Jacob Ramsey, Morgan Gibbs-White and Anthony Gordon.
Prior to that, we played Germany in a friendly game that ended in a 2-1 defeat in 2019 and the Young Lions also kicked-off their 2019 EURO qualifying campaign with a 3-0 win over Latvia in September 2017 thanks to goals from Tammy Abraham, Demarai Gray and Kasey Palmer.
The Young Lions will finish their qualifying fixtures with the visit of Azerbaijan four days later, with that game being played at Bristol City’s Ashton Gate on Tuesday 15 October (7.45pm BST).
The MU21s last visit to Ashton Gate saw a 1-1 draw with Poland in March 2019 when Dominic Calvert-Lewin opened the scoring. Their previous game there before that came back in August 2007 when Stuart Pearce’s side drew 1-1 with Romania. Matt Derbyshire opened the scoring that night, before an unfortunate Joe Hart own goal saw the game finish all square.
The MU21s start their 2024-25 games with a trip to play Northern Ireland away in their next EURO qualifier on Friday 6 September (7.45pm BST) at the Showgrounds in Ballymena, before they face a friendly with Austria at Luton Town on Monday 9 September (7.45pm BST).
