Southampton 4 - 1 Carlisle United
Attendance: 73,476
44,000 Southampton fans enjoyed a great day out at Wembley in March when they beat Carlisle United by an impressive 4-1 to lift the 2010 Johnstone's Paint Trophy Final.
The Blues started well, enjoying the majority of possession in an exciting first ten minutes at Wembley but conceded a penalty early on for a handball against Peter Murphy which was then netted by Rickie Lambert.
The Blues fought back and Ian Harte's header hit the bar in the 36th minute. They looked to be finishing the half the stronger of the two sides but then, after poor defending by Carlisle, Adam Lallana managed to score for Saints just before half-time and Southampton led 2-0 at the break.
The game had barely re-started when Papa Waigo scored Southampton's third goal into an open net in the 49th minute, followed by a half-volley from Antonio straight into the net just eleven minutes later.
Carlisle tried hard to produce something to show for their trip to Wembley and managed to score a consolation goal in the 84th minute thanks to substitute Gary Madine which restored a little pride for the travelling Carlisle fans.
The victory saw Alan Pardew's Saints collect their first domestic silverware since 1976.
