Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band have announced a blockbuster gig at Wembley Stadium next summer.

The US rock legend has confirmed the show will be part of 17 stadium dates he will play on the European leg of his 'Wrecking Ball' tour in 2013.

The Boss will play Wembley Stadium on 15 June in what will be his fifth appearance at the iconic venue.

To date, the 'Wrecking Ball' world tour has stopped in 17 countries for over 80 shows including several of the longest performances of Springsteen's career.

It has received huge praise already, with Rolling Stone magazine calling it 'gigantic', the Irish Independent labelling it 'the stuff of legend' and the Evening Herald hailing Springsteen as "the greatest live act in the world".

'Wrecking Ball' - Bruce Springsteen's 17th studio album - was released in March and debuted at No1 in the US and 15 other countries.

Springsteen's manager Jon Landau said: "Bruce has dug down as deep as he can to come up with this vision of modern life.

"The lyrics tell a story you can’t hear anywhere else and the music is his most innovative of recent years.

"The writing is some of the best of his career and both veteran fans and those who are new to Bruce will find much to love on 'Wrecking Ball'."

Springsteen made his Wembley debut in 1985 and delighted fans with three spectacular shows. The 63-year-old last took the stage there in 1988 but next year's concert will be the first time he has played at the new Wembley.

Tickets go on sale via Ticketmaster on Friday, 7 December 2012.
